Purpose
Kaupapa
ANZFA seeks to bring the existing, enduring network of folk music activity in New Zealand front and centre — locally, nationally and internationally.
Our Mission
Aotearoa NZ Folk Alliance is a national body to represent folk music and its associated activities across Aotearoa. We are a not-for-profit organisation providing information, resources and networking — including awards, showcases and professional development opportunities for the New Zealand folk music community.
Aotearoa NZ Folk Alliance is an incorporated charitable trust with a volunteer board of trustees.
Our Aim
Facilitate networking among folk artists, clubs, societies, venues and festivals,
Provide information sharing, fellowship, training and support,
Advocate on behalf of the NZ folk community, to represent them in any capacity that affects the operation and future of folk activity, at a national and local level,
Promote New Zealand folk activities to overseas and domestic markets,
Provide resources to aid the development and improvement of folk activities in Aotearoa, New Zealand,
Recognise and celebrate excellence in NZ-produced folk music and its performance through awards and showcases,
Conduct all of the above in the spirit of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
